Leon Basil Abraham, 80, of Avella, PA, died at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2004 at the Breese Personal Care Home. He had been ill since 1996. He was born on July 25, 1924, in Braddock, PA, a son of Isaac and Florence Patton Abraham. Mr. Abraham worked as the chief chemist at the Moly Corporation for 30 years. Mr. Abraham was a Deacon at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the former Chaplain at the Washington Hospital. He was also the fire chief at the Taylorstown Fire Department for 6 years. Mr. Abraham graduated high school and attended college. On June 15, 1947, he married Norma Jean Mitchell, who survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters, Carol Marion (Christopher) of Washington, PA; Patricia Piatt (Donald) of Washington, PA; Sandy Cerciello (Kip) and Mary Beth Conkey (Tony), both of Avella, PA; 7 grandchildren, Kelly Chubb, Lisa Osko, Aaron, Nathan and Natalie Cerciello, Kevin and Andrew Hamilton; and 3 great grandchildren.

Friends of Leon Basil Abraham, who died Friday, December 3, 2004 will be received from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004, with Father Edward Bryce as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, PA.

Francis ” Buck ” DonGiovanni

WWII veteran owned His & Hers Hairdresser Francis “Buck” DonGiovanni, 80, of Washington, died Friday, July 16, 2004, in his home. He had been ill for a month. He was born December 4, 1923, in Vandergrift, a son of Vito and Florence Scrima DonGiovanni. Mr. DonGiovanni was a member of Central Assembly of God Church in Houston. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. DonGiovanni was a graduate of Mason-Frederick Beauty Academy. He and his wife were owner/operators of His & Hers Hairdresser in Washington. On September 28, 1952, he married Alma Jean Zenner, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Randy DonGiovanni of Michigan; three daughters, Francine Mitchell of Edwardsburg, Mich., Jolie Mitchell of Battle Creek, Mich., and Cindy Tomsic of Canonsburg; two brothers, Michael Donne of Oakmont and Savere DonGiovanni of West Mifflin; a sister, Chris Leonard of Glenshaw; and six grandchildren, Brent, Tiffany and Ryan Mitchell, Brittany and Colton Tomsic and Aubrey Shore. A sister, Marie Turano, is deceased.

DonGIOVANNI – Friends of Francis “Buck” DonGiovanni of Washington, who died Friday, July 16, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, with Pastor Ralph Volpe officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.

Joanne Idella Anderson

Joanne Idella Anderson, 68, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in Kindred Hospital, Beaver County, following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 2, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of Lawrence E. and Virginia D. Wolfe Lytton. Mrs. Anderson was a home maker, enjoyed her grandchildren, baking, bowling and shopping. She was a member of the Carpenters Home Church. On May 25, 1953, she married Harry Bernard Anderson who survives. Also surviving are a son, Harry B. Anderson, Jr., of Amity; three daughters, Susan J. McLaughlin, Barbara Jean Fischer, and Joyce Ann Cochran, all of Washington; a brother Mark Lytton of California; a sister Alice Kelley of Hickory; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are a brother Lawrence E. Lytton; three sisters, Ada Mae Earls, Geraldine Higgs, and Marion L. Miller. 

Friends of Joanne I. Anderson will be received from 7 to 9 pm on Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 11:00 am, Pastor Bobby Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.

Leroy H. Donahue Jr., 81 , of Washington, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004, in Hazel Day Personal Care Home, Allison Avenue, Washington, following a five-year illness. He was born September 10, 1923, in Washington, a son of Leroy H. (Jack) Donahue and Pearl Dungee. Mr. Donahue had been a self-employed painter. He was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and enjoyed automobiles. He married Edis McCullough, who died April 11, 1997. Surviving are a sister, Mary Ann Cherokee of Washington, and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Jack, Benjamin, Alfred and William Donahue; two sisters, Nellie Black and Lorraine Tomassetti; and his stepmother, Charlotte Balon Donahue.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 9, the time of services, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. P. Miller Lydic officiating. Interment will be in Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hazel Day Personal Care Homes to benefit the residents of 270 Allison Avenue, Washington.

Mary Consolmagno, 79, of Washington, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Tandem Health Care, McMurray, following a brief illness. She was born December 4, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of Nichola and Annuniziata Rota Consolmagno. Miss Consolmagno was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a graduate of Washington High School and was employed by the state Department of Welfare, retiring after many years of service. Miss Consolmagno was a past member and officer of Victoria Lodge, a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas 1651, I.C. Friendship Club, NAIF, Monte Casino of McMurray, Ladies of the Elks 776 and Symphony South. Surviving are a sister, Anne Christy of Houston; two nephews, Richard A. Christy and James Consolmagno; two nieces, Elaine Foglia and Candice Wood; and a great-niece and great-nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Miro and Anthony Consolmagno; a sister, Catherine Olson; and a great-nephew.

CONSOLMAGNO – Friends of Mary Consolmagno of Washington, who died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with the Rev. Ruby Arlene Drilak, 48, of Houston, died on Wednesday, April 7, 2004, as a result of an automobile accident. She was born in Washington on October 19, 1955, a daughter of Wayne and Sarah Hewitt Hixenbaugh of Avella. She was a 1973 graduate of McGuffey High School and had worked for several years at the McDonalds on Race Track Road and for the past two years as a Payroll Clerk at 84 Lumber Company’s Corporate Office. Surviving in addition to her parents are four sons, Benjamin Michael Drilak of Houston, Mark Andrew Drilak of Washington, Ryan Patrick and Andrew Wayne Drilak, both of Houston; three sisters, Diana Barker of 84, Beth Ann Hixenbaugh of Avella, and Kay Barnhart of Washington; a grandson Aiden Michael Drilak; two nieces and a nephew. Preceding her in death is a sister, Cassandra Joy Hixenbaugh who died shortly after birth.

Friends of Ruby Arlene Drilak who died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, will be received on Friday from 12 to 2 and 4 to 7 pm, the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Decorated Navy veteran was 1939 Trinity graduate A. Kenneth Wilson, 82, of Washington, died unexpectedly Monday, March 29, 2004, in Washington Hospital. He was born March 7, 1922, in Eighty Four, a son of William G. and Edna Crawford Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church. He worked as a sales manager at Nuclear Machine Shop in Irwin. Mr. Wilson was a member of Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM, Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy on submarines in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in Korea. He received a Combat Insignia award with two gold stars, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with five stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars and Korean Service Medal. Mr. Wilson was a 1939 graduate of Trinity High School. On July 3, 1943, he married Betty L. Peterson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Timothy E. Wilson of Glenside; a daughter, Donna L. Carlisle of Washington; a sister, Helen Lusk of Washington; five grandchildren, Lisa DiNapoli, Kimberly Angott, Kelly Carlisle, Nicole Stokes and Shannon Wilson; and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, William Charles Wilson, who died in infancy; a sister, Dorothy Jean Wilson, who died in infancy, and Esther L. Lindsay, who died in 1943.

Alan M. McPeak, 93, of Mt. Pleasant Township, died Sunday, February 22, 2004, in Humbert Lane Healthcare Center following a three week illness. He was born on November 18, 1910, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a son of Walter K. and Tressa McDowell McPeak. Mr. McPeak was a Machinist, having retired from Reliance Electric after many years and had also been a lifelong, self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Hickory United Presbyterian Church, was previously a member of the Gretna Grange and later the Buffalo Grange. On December 25, 1935, he married Grace Herron who died on April 14, 2003. Surviving are a son, David A. McPeak of Washington; a grandchild Pamela Carlini; and one great-grandchild. Mr. McPeak is preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth “ Betty “ Johnson.

Alben “Cat” Ruschel, 86, of Washington, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2004, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington. He was born October 20, 1918, in Federal, a son of William and Rose Miller Ruschel. Mr. Ruschel attended Washington High School and retired after 25 years of service as a driver for the state Department of Transportation. He was a member of BPOE 776. On October 9, 1976, he married Janet L. Carter Ruschel, who died October 13, 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Weide of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a brother, Robert “Zip” Ruschel of Washington; and two grandchildren, David and Tracey Belotti. Deceased are a brother, William Ruschel; and two sisters, Bertha Laws and Evelyn Braden.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 21, with the Rev. Keith Lohr officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
